Skin care is so important! It is your solid canvas that you put your makeup on. If your skin is not taken care of, your makeup will not look its best. You do not have to use the most expensive products. You do not have to use a ton of products to take care of your skin. The way I think about skin care and makeup is, less is more.
Most of these products I mentioned on my All Time Favorite Beauty Products. I have gone over all of them and discussed them in full in a youtube video I have linked below.
I have a very short skin care routine.
Usually every single morning I use the Simple Micellar Water to cleanse my face just waken my skin up. This product is amazing! Most people use this water to remove their makeup. I only use it to cleanse my skin in the morning and it works wonders.
Then I go in with Simple Skin Experts moisturizer SPF15. This moisturizer does not stand out all that much, I am open to trying new moisturizers. I just really like this one because it is for sensitive skin, it does not break me out, and it has SPF in it. So it has done the job.
At night I use the Equate Blemish Control Facial Scrub. This exfoliating scrub is literally my holy grail product. This little $2 product makes my skin super soft while fighting any blemishes I have. This product does not make your skin feel super dry or anything. Since I use this at night I do load a night cream on after because I have naturally dry skin, but it does not make you feel as if you HAVE to put on moisturizer.
My night cream has really worked wonders for me. Usually there are not many night creams under $20. Night creams tend to be pretty expensive. I use the Elf Nourishing Night Cream. This is $12, so it is kind of up there in price but for night creams, it is on the cheaper side for drug store. The reason I love this night cream so much is because it is very thick and moisturizing. At night is when your skin can dry out the most so having a thick moisturizer on before you go to bed can help prevent your skin drying out too much. I have not found another night cream I really enjoy. If you have one I should try, let me know!
Now lets talk face masks. I have used a couple but have not found one that I enjoy more than the Mint Julep face mask. I get this from Walmart and that is the only place I have found it. It is like $3 or $4. This mask tingles when you first put it on, that is the mint. It dries after you have it on for awhile and it is hard to move your face. This mask really helps remove blackheads and disguise any blemishes. This mask does really dry out your skin so putting a lot of moisturizer on after is a must. But this does really work and I love it. I try to use this once a week but I always forget, which I should not.
One product I did not mention in my video is the Elf Zit Zapper, which is $2. This little rollerball has salicylic acid in it. I just run this over any blemishes I have and it helps fight them faster than anything else I have tried. So I definitely recommend this product as well.
